Caffè Nero submits plans for shop fit and new frontage

As reported on alderleyedge.com last month, Caffè Nero is preparing to open in the premises previously occupied by The Wedding Shop.

Work on the shop fit at 38, London Road started several weeks and the company are hoping to open the new branch at the beginning of May.

This month they have submitted planning applications to Cheshire East Council, seeking permission to fit a new wooden shopfront (which is already in place) a new illuminated sign and awnings to the new shopfront, as well as refurbish the interior.

The proposed layout provides seating for 54 customers, with eight of the chairs located on the pavement outside the front of the cafe.

The plans, which have not altered the scale or size of the property, can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 14/1764M and 14/1765M (for the external signs).

The last date for submitting comments is May 1st and a decision is expected to be made by 27th May, by which time Caffè Nero should be open.

I certainly won't be patronising this establishment. There are already plenty of well-run places serving coffee in the village, run by companies who pay proper respect to the planning laws and also pay appropriate levels of corporation tax. Caffe Nero have a record of opening branches all over the country without prior planning permission, and Alderley Edge is just the latest.

I hope they get refused permission for their crass obnoxious attitude to planning .right next to the village café too how. I feel an objection is in order .

Is it just me or is it a bit arrogant opening and serving coffee 'before' even having planning permission?
