Cricket Club plans to install padel courts

Alderley Edge Cricket Club has submitted plans to install padel courts at their Moss Lane club.

The new padel facilities are being installed to widen the club's appeal, reinvigorate membership which has fallen in recent years, and meet a need identified from a recent membership survey.

The courts will be located to the north east corner of the site, replacing an existing tennis court (9). The plans (Application Reference Number - 24/5182/FUL) include new floodlighting, pedestrian access, an acoustic fence and other associated means of enclosure and landscaping.

A separate planning application has been submitted to upgrade the existing floodlights on two tennis courts from metal halide lights to LED lights and replacement of associated lighting columns, (Application Reference Number 25/0451/FUL)

There are currently floodlights on eight tennis courts: 3 courts with metal halide lights installed in 2004 and 5 courts with LED lights installed in 2020. It is two of the courts (11 and 13) with metal halide lights which is the subject of this application.

The plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Planning Portal.
