Alderley Edge Parish Council has agreed to keep the precept for the next financial year at £120,000.

The precept is the part of your council tax which is charged by the Parish Council.

In addition to the £120,000 they will raise in tax next financial year, the Parish Council expects to earn £1200 in rent from the allotments and receive a grant of about £4800 from Cheshire East - giving them a proposed income of about £125,000.

Attached is the summary of the Parish Council's proposed budget for 2014/15 which shows that one again the largest expenditure is the Festival Hall.

Costs for the hall are budgeted at £222,000 which includes £75,000 building costs (part of which is for the new side entrance), £10,000 for legal costs and there is a contingency of £40,000 should a new roof be required.

Projected income from the hall is budgeted at £47,400, which takes into account loss of income during building works and includes a £15,000 dowry from Cheshire East, giving a total loss of nearly £175,000.

The budget for the next financial year includes £7800 for an apprentice, £1000 website costs, £3000 for Christmas lights and £4500 for the Christmas lights switch on event, £4000 for allotment legal fees, £4000 for street lighting, £2000 for a youth club, £5000 for Homewatch, £3000 for floral displays, £5500 for CCTV and £11,000 for allotment costs which would cover £500 compensation for each Heyes Lane allotment holder and £3000 to deal with the drainage problem on the Beech Road allotment site.

Speaking about CCTV, Cllr Keegan said "We've put the figure in but we have not yet agreed with Cheshire East. We're having talks with them down the police station on the 28th to see what it actually is they are going to do for us. We'll be able to see some of the cameras down there and try and work out what service we're getting."

Cllr Keegan concluded the discussion about the budget by saying "All in all the excess of payments over receipts is a thumping great amount. We finish up the year with a small balance (£12,491) at the end but we need to just be careful on the way through. We've got quite a lot of wiggle room in there to manage our affairs."
