Gusto plans for small extension

Living Ventures has applied for planning permission to build a small extension at the rear of Gusto.

The proposal is to build a single storey extension to create a private dining room to replace the existing private courtyard.

The small private dining area will not be used as part of the general seating arrangements for the restaurant, so it is not anticipated that the space would not be used every day.

Consent has previously been sought for a similar extension in 2005, but the scheme was refused due to the potential un-neighbourliness caused by likely unacceptable noise levels from the development, resulting from the design and the proposed windows and doors.

The current scheme seeks to address the concerns raised on the previous application, as a result no doors to the external area would be installed and none of the high level windows or roof structure would open, to prevent any noise outbreak. All ventilation will be achieved mechanically.

The structure would have virtually the same footprint as the courtyard and be constructed with solid walls and a timber and glass roof. A small row of fixed windows would be positioned above head height and the external walls would be rendered and painted to match the current colour scheme of the building.

Plans can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/4417M. The deadline for submitting comments is 12th November and a decision is expected to be made by 11th December.
