Following the launch of our new 'Village People' series. Here's our fourth interview.

During the series the intention is to feature local people from a variety of backgrounds and different occupations. If you would like to feature in the 'Village People' series or suggest someone who would make a good candidate then please email me.

Full name: David Hadfield

Age: On the wrong side of 50.

Occupation:

Now semi-retired, but still involved in the wines and spirits business after many years working both here in the UK and abroad. Also involved with the film industry for the last few years, being a supporting artiste in the recent cinema blockbuster "Les Miserables", and numerous other titles, soaps, documentaries and tv commercials, such as Emmerdale, Hollyoaks, The Baker Street Bank Job, Harry Hill The Movie, and many others.

Marriage status:

Had 5 wives .... (only two of my own but not both at the same time ... that's just greedy). Now divorced.

Where do you live?: Now living in the centre of the village.

How long have you lived in the village?

I've lived in the area for many years and moved to Alderley Edge about 8 years ago.

Where did you move from and why?

For my sins, I was born in Sheffield, but managed to escape and lived in various places, having served in the UK military and being drafted to far-flung places around the world for 12 years.

What do you most like about living in Alderley Edge?

I think Alderley Edge is a wonderful place to live, with a great village centre and a vibrant business community.

What changes/improvements would you like to see in Alderley Edge?

I'd like to see more individual shops here in the village.

I'd like to see less 40 ton trucks driving though the village centre.

I'd like to see the roads in and around the village in good condition, without the hundreds of potholes everywhere!

I'd like to see more police officers in the village, instead of just the one PCSO doing a difficult job.

I'd like to see the 'Wine Rack' shop open again in some sort of business / bar / restaurant capacity, instead of seeing it as yet another empty building due to the alleged ridiculous political council restrictions.

What have been the biggest changes to Alderley Edge since you have been here?

When I first discovered Alderley Edge many years ago, there was possibly only one really popular dining venue in the whole village, and that was the Number 15 Wine Bar .......... apart from the two Chinese restaurants, the Mandarin and the Alderley Rose now both gone.

What do you miss about the village that has since gone? Kwiksave supermarket - thank goodness!

If there are two things about Alderley Edge you could eliminate what would they be? Empty shops and litter, but not neccessarily in that order.

Describe Alderley Edge in 3 words? Great fun destination !

What is your favourite way to spend a day out and about in Alderley Edge or the surrounding area?

Playing tennis at the tennis club, walking into the village to have a drink with friends at the newly-opened champagne bar, then having a meal in one of the superb village restaurants, then trying to find my way back home again ...........

What is the most underrated thing about Alderley Edge?

In my opinion, most people living in or near Alderley Edge take the village and surrounding area for granted.

It's only when you visit other parts of this country, or abroad, that you appreciate what a fabulous village Alderley Edge really is and what a beautiful countryside we have on our doorstep.

What are the main myths about Alderley Edge?

Well, I'm sure it's still true that more bottles of champagne are sold (and hopefully opened) in Alderley Edge than any other area in the UK, outside London.

Are you a member of a club or association based in the village?

Yes, I'm a member of Alderley Edge Tennis Club, along with just the 1,300 other players. Fortunately, they don't all turn up to play at the same time.

If you didn't live in Alderley Edge where would you want to move to?

I suppose it's got to be Marbella, or the south of France ........... mainly for the sun, sea, sport and siesta's.
