Over 1500 people turned out for the Alderley Edge Village Fete on Sunday, 30th June, where the sun shone (if only for short spells) and visitors enjoyed a great day of traditional family fun.
Young and old gathered at the cricket club, many of whom were joined by their four legged friends, to enjoy the summer fete. Now in its fifth year, the charity event once again raised money for the Francis House Children's Hospice, which provides respite care for children and young people with life-limiting conditions.
Crowds enjoyed a fun dog show, vintage car and falconry display, chainsaw sculpture, clay pigeon shooting, fairground rides and performances from Alderley Edge School for Girls and The Ryleys.
Volunteers from Francis House organised some traditional games including throwing the welly in the loo, face painting and a craft wall which was created by children at the event and will be displayed at the Francis House Children's Hospice for everyone to enjoy. (see photos above).
This fantastic community event is organised by Emma Bolton, owner of The Lavender Tree, and John Berry, manager of the Cricket Club, who are supported by a great team of volunteers - including Keith Lowe who arranged all the music, Stephen Mooney who organised the vintage car display, WI ladies who created a gorgeous selection of cakes and Animal Support Volunteers who organised the dog show, which once again proved a big attraction.
Emma Bolton said "We would like to thank everyone who was involved in this years Fete, it was a fantastic day. Carole Geary and her team did a brilliant job with all of the traditional games as part of the fundraising for Francis House Hospice. Once again we had a great turn out and everyone seemed to really enjoy themselves."
Proceeds from stalls at the fete and a raffle raised in excess of £1500 for Francis House Children's Hospice.
