Plans have been submitted to create a new terrace to enable year round alfresco dining at Panacea.

Playworks Ltd have applied to extend the existing outdoor dining area with a bar and erect a motorised retractable awning to cover the dining area outside the front of the restaurant.

They are also seeking approval for a new porch to be erected at the rear of the property, to provide a more attractive covered access to the nightclub, and amendments to the car park layout.

The new awning will span most of the front elevation of the premises, there will be an external bar at one end with stool seating and the rest of the enclosure will accommodate external seating and tables for dining.

When open the roof canopies will fold back towards the building and when in the down position the whole structure will offer a weather resistant dining environment.

The Design and Access document states "It is envisaged that the new awning proposal will make a high quality addition to the existing external dining facilities. The additional benefit of being able to weather proof the external dining facilities will extend the seasonal use of this area and lift the appearance of the front facade as a whole. In similar fashion the new open porch to the rear of the building will lift the quality of the premises."

The restaurant at Panacea is currently closed and will reopen as a Piccolino Italian restaurant in the spring.

The application can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for planning reference 13/0737M.

The deadline for submitting comments is March 20th and a decision is expected by 18th April.

I recall that when Panacea originally applied for a licence, the licensing committee was told that it was not going to be a nightclub. Now a planning application has been submitted which includes a new nightclub entrance. Why do they need it?
