Police officers from Wilmslow Neighbourhood Policing Team have been busy catching shoplifters in Alderley Edge this week.
On Wednesday, 15th July, two men who had been stealing from local businesses, including over £120 of alcohol, were arrested and charged.
One of them received a four-week custodial sentence, while the second male was bailed at court to appear at a later hearing.
The following evening officers responded to a 999 call reporting a suspicious male on London Road.
A pole spokesperson said "He had also been shoplifting alcohol from a local store, and was arrested for two offences of theft and assaulting an emergency worker after punching one of the officers in the face - fortunately, they were not injured.
"The male has been charged with the offences and remanded into custody to face court tomorrow."
