Potholes filled at South Street car park

Workmen have been filling the potholes at South Street car park this morning.

Following complaints from our readers, I reported on the dreadful state of the car park last week and contacted Cheshire East Council to enquire whether the potholes will be filled or the car park resurfaced.

The Council informed me that they are assessing exactly what work will need to be done on this car park and this morning workmen were there filling in the potholes and laying tarmac over sections of the car park.

Cheshire East Council announced a war on potholes last month, which will be boosted by a £25 million cash investment over the next two years.

The Council has repaired over 46,000 potholes since April 1st 2012, at a cost of £1 million, and now aims to fix another 42,000 by the end of this summer.

Potholes can be reported via Cheshire East Council's online fault reporting page at www.cheshireeasthighways.org/ReportIt or by phoning the highways team on 0300 123 5020.

All very good. Pity this isn't done as and when needed instead of letting it get in such a dreadful state that it needs drastic action.

I am told that C.E. are also aiming at doing something similar to the car park in the Park.
