Car park in a 'disgraceful state'

Several readers have contacted us recently regarding the state of the car park on South Street.

Having driven round it a couple of times this morning, whilst struggling to find a parking space, I would certainly describe it as a very bumpy ride.

Local resident Claire Bisano said "The car park is in a disgraceful state, people's cars are going to get damaged.

"I think it is shocking that you have to pay to park there and fight over spaces when it is in such a state.

"I don't think they should have left it to get that bad - surely they must inspect it whilst they are collecting the money from the machine.

"It has been like this for a long time and it has just got worse and worse."

I have contacted Cheshire East Council today to enquire whether the potholes will be filled or the car park resurfaced and they have informed me that they are assessing exactly what work will need to be done on this car park.

It's no different to the roads we all have to use and pay a lot of money towards. I drive a lot of miles and on Thursday covered a wide area of Cheshire and was so sick and tired of the shocking mess that our roads have become. A large part of them are actually quite dangerous as well as very damaging to the cars. I recently reported a very large area of damage, far to big to call a pothole, cars were almost driving on the other side of the road to avoid it. The Council went to repair it very quickly but the job was very poor and all the other holes and broken road was just left.

Never mind assessing it, just fix it.
