Easter egg hunt goes down a treat

Easter Bunny 2012

The Easter Bunny visited Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe on Saturday to help find the lucky winners of the first ever Alderley Edge Village Easter Egg Hunt, which was held to support the NSPCC.

Hundreds of local children had great fun collecting secret letters, and chocolate eggs, as they visited the 25 local businesses involved in the hunt.

Once all the letters had been collected they had to put their thinking caps on to work out the winning phrase which we can now reveal was "Easter time in Alderley Edge!"

Over 150 correct entries were received with many of the entrants attending the draw in the shop. The egg hunt received many positive comments from parents and children.

Alanis Hindle, aged 11, said, "What a fab thing to take part in, great for the community spirit, the local children etc, thank you for organising it."

Many local businesses kindly donated to the NSPCC and gave generous prizes such as vouchers for Toys are Us, iTunes, local shops and various eateries as well as cash prizes.

There were sixteen prizes in total and the first three went to Katrun Soley Haraldsdottin, aged 8, Niamh Williams, aged 6, and Sara Shaanoun, aged 11.

Judy O'Brien from Mr Simms said, "It was delightful to work together with other traders in the village, everyone was so enthusiastic and families seemed to really enjoy taking part. We were very grateful to the children from Ryleys School who painstakingly painted the hen's eggs which were on display.

"Also, a big thanks to Lucy Seker who helped to blow all the eggs ready for painting! All in all it was a lovely village event which provided entertainment in the weeks coming up to Easter. Hopefully, the village will do something similar at Christmas."
