New provider for 'Flexible Transport Service'

Cheshire East Council (CEC) has announced a new provider for the dial-a-ride services in Alderley Edge and nearby villages.

The dial-a-ride service has been renamed 'Flexible Transport Service' and is now operated by Whitegate Travel.

The new pilot service started on Monday, 2nd April, operating in Alderley Edge, Nether Alderley, Wilmslow, Handforth and Styal. It is available to anyone who lives in the area it operates in and journeys can be made for almost any purpose; shopping, meeting friends, medical appointments or to connect to other bus or rail services.

The service operates on Mondays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays and concessionary pass holders can use their passes on the service from 9.30am.

Cheshire East Councillor Rod Menlove, Cabinet member with responsibility for environmental services, said: "First of all, I would like to formally welcome the provider and thank them for their hard work so far. I look forward to seeing this new working relationships grow and develop over the coming year.

"We are aware that these services are important to those who use them and I am pleased that the future of flexible transport is now secure.

"I would like to reassure service-users and local residents that there was never an intention to remove these services. We simply had to take the time to look for operators who were as supportive of the service as we are and had confidence in its future."

CEC will be monitoring these services and will welcome feedback from the public.

To use the service you will need to book your transport in advance by ringing Whitegate Travel on 01606 786833 Monday to Friday 0930am to 1230pm. Please give at least 24 hours notice.
