Following the arrest of four people in the Midlands yesterday (Wednesday 2nd July) in connection to a series of high value burglaries across the UK, detectives from Cheshire Police have now arrested a fifth person.
The 28-year-old Albanian man was arrested earlier today, Thursday 3 July, in London as part of the investigation into a least 37 burglaries across the UK.
On Wednesday, 2nd July, more than 30 officers executed three warrants at addresses in Walsall, Sutton Coldfield and Birmingham leading to the arrests of three Albanian men (aged 27, 28, 30) and a 33-year-old British woman.
The raids involved officers from Macclesfield CID, the Cheshire Constabulary Serious and Organised Crime Unit and officers from Staffordshire Police, Derbyshire Police and Nottinghamshire Police.
The arrests form part of Cheshire's Operation Ambler, an ongoing operation led by detectives at Macclesfield CID into at least 37 high value burglaries across the UK which occurred between October 2024 and March 2025.
They include ten burglaries in Cheshire along with others in Staffordshire, Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, Durham, Cleveland, West Mercia and Warwickshire.
The properties targeted in Cheshire include homes in Alderley Edge, Prestbury, Macclesfield, Disley, Weston, Willaston and Whitegate.
All of the burglaries involved high value residential premises and the total value of the items stolen is believed to be more than £1 million.
All five suspects remain in custody at this time.
