Following their success last year Alderley Edge U11s cricket team were invited back to play in the prestigious National Indoor Cricket Championships. The tournament was held in the MCC Academy at Lords cricket ground on Saturday, 10th March.

In their first game Alderley played the home favourites Primrose Hill in a thrilling match which ended in a tie, with both teams scoring 118 runs.

In their second game Alderley Edge played a team from Amsterdam and completely overwhelmed their Dutch opponents VRA, scoring 148 to 18 runs, and in the next game Alderley Edge scored another impressive total of 122 runs with their opponents Bovey Tracey, a team from Devon, responding with 86 runs.

Alderley finished joint top of their league and were drawn to play Primrose Hill in the final. Electing to bat first Alderley scored 96 runs which unfortunately proved not enough to prevent their opponents winning in the penultimate over scoring 98 for the loss of four wickets.

The team were congratulated on their sterling performance at the prize presentation and returned home this time as runners-up.

The squad of eight players who all played their part in the team's success were Ashray Bhamidipati, Will Fosbrook, Harry Elms. Max Law, Ethan Morris, Nathan Pugh, Lawrence Tissington and Captain Toby Orr.

The team was managed by David Elms and coached by MCC member David Otway. An enthusiastic group of parents and supporters thoroughly enjoyed their trip to London and made many new friends at the tournament.
