Plans include celebrating the 60 years of the Queen's reign with a street party on London Road, which will be closed from 7am to 9pm on Sunday 3rd June for the big celebration.

The street will be decorated with bunting and tables will be placed down one side of the road, so people can gather with friends and family for The Big Lunch.

Organiser Cllr Melanie Connor said "We want the whole day to be fun for everyone, a relaxed good time, where the children can run around, out of danger and enjoy being with lots of people.

"The event will take place from 12 until 6pm but we have kept the road closed until later so that there is a chance to clear up and for people to stay at the restaurants etc without pressure to go.

"We are trying to get a great Punch and Judy for entertainment, we are going to place a piano at one end of the road and get some songs together from the 50's and hope someone can play!"

Organisers will also be encouraging those who want to dress in 50's style and there will be a children's competition for the best Royal outfit.

Melanie added "it is going to be a community event, so we want it to be organic in that we don't spend loads, but we do encourage local businesses to be a part of it for themselves.

Lots of things are already planned for the day, and there are a lot more things to organise but the road closure is now confirmed so we'll definitely be partying in the street on Sunday 3rd June.

Organisers have arranged for collections to be made on the day in aid of East Cheshire Hospice.
