Pannone to close Alderley Edge office

Pannone are closing their Alderley Edge and Hales offices as the company shifts its focus from local offices to capital growth.

The closures will result in the loss of up to 12 jobs, which will be a mix of secretarial and fee earning roles.

Employees at the Alderley Edge office, which opened in 2007, were given the news yesterday and the office is expected to close in April.

Managing Partner Emma Holt said "The decision to close the offices in Hale and Alderley Edge is based on our strategic plans to further enhance our national reputation across a wide range of disciplines and specialist niche areas. We believe that will be achieved by moving away from small local offices to expanding our presence in London.

"The closures will regrettably result in a number of redundancies across secretarial and fee-earning roles and we are working closely with the individuals concerned."

Last month, Pannone announced the appointment of Corporate Partner Catherine McLoughlin in the London office to drive forward its life sciences practice across the UK.

Elsewhere, Clinical Negligence Partner Julianne Moore is relocating to London in a move that has boosted the presence of the firm's Serious Injury division in the Capital.

Pannone opened its London office in June 2010 as a base for its Regulatory and Corporate Crime team and is now doubling the footprint of its office and embarking on an ambitious recruitment drive of senior lawyers in the Capital across a number of disciplines.

Oh no - we will miss Pannone's presence. But luckily some of the staff are still around to keep the rest of us lawyers still very much in the village company. Small (overheads) is beautiful for once perhaps?
