School's environmental area gets a boost

Waitrose Support Dec 11

Alderley Edge Community Primary School has benefitted from the Waitrose Community Matters Initiative.

The Alderley Edge store handed over a cheque for £145 to the school on Thursday, 15th December.

The school submitted their bid recently and many shoppers supported their application, through the token scheme which enables three local charities or good causes to gain a share of the £500 monthly donation.

The money they received will be spent on maintaining and improving the Environmental Area at the school. This outdoor learning environment is a small woodland within the school grounds which contains a range of trees, plants, woodland animals, mini-beasts and a pond. The initial aim for these funds is to improve the woodland paths with new wood chip.

Headteacher Chris Perry said "I would like to thank all the Waitrose shoppers who supported our bid for funds last month. The school's environmental area is a really important asset for children's learning and this money will help enormously to improve access."

You can nominate a local cause to receive support from the Community Matters scheme by picking up a form instore.
