An Alderley Edge resident is preparing to complete a 50 mile hike to raise funds for seven year old Madison Allan, who needs £250,000 to receive life saving treatment in Germany.

Geoff Davies-Palin from Gail Close will trek for 25 hours in the Peak District whilst carrying a back pack which weighs 50 lbs, the same as Madison.

He will set off on Friday 21st October and will hopefully finish at lunchtime on Saturday 22nd at Cloudside Shooting Club near Congleton.

The father of three, who will turn 50 later this month, told me "I decided to do the walk after a very good friend Johnny Marr took me to a charity fund raising dinner in aid of Madi and I just felt that I wanted to help.

"I have done a long walk once before during my time in the army which entailed a ten man team pulling a small field gun from Aldershot to Darlington for a children's home, but that was back in 1982. I have been training by fitting some walks in and around the Edge for the past couple of weeks."

Collection tins will be placed around the village so you can sponsor Geoff, alternatively donations can be made via his JustGiving page to help the Five Stars Appeal raise £250,000 to enable Madison Allan to get life saving treatment in Germany, after all attempts to save her in the UK have failed.
