Crowds gathered on the pavement of London Road last week eagerly waiting for Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe to open its doors for the first time.
Over 100 people were waiting outside for the traditional confectioners to be officially opened on Friday morning by owner Judy O'Brien's great nephews Charles and Isaac.
The boys, who were sporting their Fonz leather jackets, are the great grandchildren of Harry Jackson who ran the confectioners on London Road in the 1960's.
Judy O'Brien, from Wilmslow, told me "We have had an amazing local response. Customers of all ages have loved it, with babies enjoying white chocolate mice to elderly people buying mint humbugs.
"Local mum, Rosie Hitchen-Hisley who bought a truffle hedgehog for her toddler said 'Baby Arrabella talked to it, played with it, danced with it and then eventually ate it' - best value for money item she ever bought for kiddy!
"People came from as far afield as Stoke, Chester, Altrincham, Malvern and South Yorkshire, kiddies could sit in vintage van and Dazzle the clown was fab.
"We loved meeting the community and we couldn't close until 9 pm on Friday as folks were pouring in and kiddies were pressing their noses on the window.
"A huge thank you to all the people of Alderley Edge who welcomed us. We are open to suggestions of items to stock and will be having a suggestion box."
The old fashioned sweet shop, located in the building previously occupied by Hi Ho Silver, continued to attract crowds all weekend so it looks like it is going to be a very popular addition to Alderley's high street.
