Alert following York stone thefts

yorkstone

Police are appealing for residents to be extra vigilant following recent thefts of York Stone.

There have been three local incidents in recent weeks. The driveway from a temporarily unoccupied house on Macclesfield Road in Alderley Edge was removed last week.

There have also been recent thefts in Prestbury and Macclesfield.

Sergeant Andy Miller said "If you see anything suspicious then give us a call, even if it turns out to be a waste of time.

"York stone costs a fortune and I would hate to see this type of theft rear it's head again. The thieves spot places which are under renovation and then they come along and blatantly steal driveways - making a lot of money out of it."

If you notice anything suspicious then contact Wilmslow Neighbourhood Policing Unit on 0845 458 0000 or call Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

It doesn't help either when the Council refuses planning for you to put a decent set of gates on your property either!
Advantage goes to the thieves in our case as we're not allowed to add gates to our property.

Ah Fiona, you need to submit an application to build a really ugly £4 million mansion to get planning permission.
