Children celebrate all things British

British Day 002

Alderley Edge Community Primary School have been celebrating the forthcoming marriage of HRH Prince William to his fiancée Kate Middleton.

The school used the opportunity to develop the children's understanding of Great Britain, its geography, diversity, culture and customs. Children throughout the school thought about what makes them proud to be British and learnt about the Royal family.

The two day celebration on Wednesday 13th and Thursday 14th May culminated on Thursday afternoon, when they held their own Royal Wedding celebrations.

The school was decorated, both inside and out, with Union Jack bunting and each class decorated their own classrooms. The children dressed as princes and princesses, or in the colours of the Union Jack, and took part in class street parties, traditional games and sang the national anthem.

Chris Perry, Headteacher, said "The Royal Wedding has given the teachers in school a great opportunity to focus on Britain, our history, geography and traditions through this very important event. The day was thoroughly enjoyed by everyone in school and rounded off a great terms work."
