Farmer's market gets festive

Farmers Market January 017

The Alderley Edge Farmers Market, which is now in its 12th year and has become a tradition in the village, will be holding their annual Christmas market on Sunday December 12th.

The last market before Christmas will have a real festive feel with mulled wine, mince pies and Christmas carols.

Christine Munro, who organises the Farmers Markets with her son Hugh, said "The mulled wine is my mum's special recipe and I make my own mince pies which go beautifully with it. Everyone coming into the market will be offered a warm glass to enjoy whilst they look and buy."

New for this year, there will be a continental section with Benedicte bringing her lovely French Hampers and foods, Giovanna, Roberta and Dom from the Amalfi coast with handmade pasta and sauces, and Gig with her tempting Greek delicacies.

Christine added "At the December market we will be having 42 farmers and producers attending, with lots of lovely food and ideas for gifts as well, not to mention Rick with his logs and kindling for the fires which will be very welcome as the weather has got so much colder.

"Come to the market and have a look, it's a great opportunity to buy something different for your friends this year, you can be sure you won't get these products in the supermarkets."

The Christmas Farmer's Market will be take place on Sunday, December 12th, from 9am until 1pm at the Festival Hall and new for this year a Christmas Fair and Market will be also held on the same day at the Alderley Edge Cricket Club.

There is plenty of time to support and attend both events to do some Christmas shopping and really get in to the festive spirit this Sunday.

It's a shame really that as they are held on the same day the two Alderley Edge Christmas Markets couldn't have combined into one big Alderley Edge Christmas Market. I will be going to both though so looking forward to mulled wine & mince pies x 2!!
