Whilst listening to Weekend Wogan on BBC Radio 2 last Sunday, local resident Mike Marshall successfully bid for a leopard trek with TV presenter and author Ray Mears, who is recognised throughout the world as an authority on bushcraft and survival.

Sir Terry Wogan held the 'Money Can't Buy Auction' in aid of BBC Children In Need, during which safari addict Mike bid £17,000 for a 5 day trip to Namibia tracking leopards on foot with Ray Mears and two of the Leopard Trust team.

Mike said "This is an opportunity to not only learn a great deal about the leopard family, with Ray Mears hosting the trip, but to get closer than you would normally be allowed on a safari.

"The trip will be early 2011 and it is likely that a two man film crew will attend, as a number of the leopards have been tagged and they are keen to monitor behaviour over a short period.

"It is very exciting and of course Children in Need will also benefit from my indulgence!"
