The council have just announced that it has been another record-breaking year for GCSE students in Cheshire East.

Provisional figures show that a record 63% of students achieved five or more A*- C grades, including English and maths, compared to 57% last year. Students gaining five A*- C grades in any subject is also up, from 72% last year, to 80% this year.

Councillor Hilda Gaddum, Cabinet member with responsibility for children and family services said: “This is a tremendous achievement for all the pupils involved and my congratulations go to them all.

"The figure that is most important is the five A*- C grades including English and maths and to achieve a six per cent increase in this category and comfortably get over the 60% barrier is excellent news."
