Andy Watts, a keen runner from Wilmslow, celebrated his 25th London Marathon on Sunday by crossing the finish line first in his age category - 75-79 - with an impressive time of 3.55.03.
Andy, who runs with Wilmslow Running Club, said "I've normally been able to enter London with a 'Good for Age' place, which is great as it avoids the ballot.
"My first marathon was in 1982 and I did a few around that time, including several in Manchester in the 1980s, and again when the event came back in the 1990s. I have two children living in London, and the marathon weekend becomes a family get-together.
"I enjoy Spring marathons - a reason to get out running to train during the dark days of January and February - but I actually prefer running off-road, including trail runs and long distance (ultra marathon) events."
As well as enjoying running, Andy is also an adjudicator for England Athletics races, and has been a race director for many of them. He is currently a run director with Wilmslow parkrun, as well as performing other volunteer roles on a Saturday morning - when he
isn't running the 5k distance in under 25'!
Andy and his wife Jackie are active members of the local church community at St. Bart's, and he's also treasurer of Wilmslow Parish.
