Parish councillor resigns after 10 years

A vacancy has arisen on Alderley Edge Parish Council the resignation of Councillor Rachael Grantham.

After 10 years as a Parish Councillor, Rachael has taken the decision to step down to concentrate on her business commitments

Councillor Vince Fogharty said "She has been a shining example of how we can serve our community with dedication and determination. Her contribution and leadership has been inspiring and invaluable and she will be greatly missed by her fellow councillors and residents alike."

The vacancy will be filled by election if, within fourteen days (excluding weekends and Bank Holidays) from Monday 27th January, any ten voters submit a written request for an election to the Returning Officer.

If this happens there will be a period of time for candidates to be nominated and if two or more candidates are nominated there will be an election.

If no such request is made, the vacancy will be filled by Alderley Edge Parish Council, who will be at liberty to select who they wish, provided the person qualifies to be a councillor.

Any request for an election to be held to fill the vacancy must be in writing and sent to The Returning Officer, Cheshire East Council, Elections Office, Macclesfield Town Hall, C/O Delamere House, Delamere Street, Crewe, CW1 2LL.
