Alderley Edge in Bloom volunteers have achieved four awards in the 'It's Your Neighbourhood' category of the 2024 RHS North West in Bloom Competition.
Volunteers from both Alderley Edge Station Volunteer Group and Chorley Hall Lane Allotment Association attended the awards ceremony today (Wednesday 30th October) where they both achieved Level 5 "Outstanding" again, the highest accolade that you can receive.
Additionally, Lydiat Lane wall display was judged as thriving as was new entrant Beech Close Allotments.
Kelvin Briggs, attended the ceremony on behalf of Alderley Edge Station Volunteer Group said "It's always nice to receive awards for volunteering in the village. How great to see the two allotment groups and Lydiate Lane do so well.
He added "We have big plans for next year at the station with the refurbishment of the Crewe platform building. This week the station group will unveil 4 Alderley Edge history boards in the waiting room."
Elaine Ockelton, Secretary of Chorley Hall Lane Allotment Association, said "It was such a wonderful occasion to represent our allotments and to be recognised for all the hard work our plot holders do. Not just for growing vegetables and flowers on their plots but for the community spirit.
"We welcomed visitors to the site on our Open Day in May, hosted Australian visitors on their "Great Gardens of Britain" tour, raised funds for East Cheshire Hospice, and showed school children the beauty of home grown vegetables and so much more."
