Skip Day certainly wasn't a rubbish idea

The first Alderley Edge Community Skip day proved a big success this month.

Alderley Edge Parish Council, Alderley Edge in Bloom and local residents decided to trial the initiative which is already in place in many towns and villages in the area.

On Saturday 20th July a skip was placed in Wood Gardens between 11am and 2pm for anyone who doesn't have transport to go to a recycling centre or nowhere to store unwanted or unused items that cannot be recycled, upcycled or sent to a charity.

Due to concerns about fly tipping, the location was not revealed until the day of the event when it was manned at all times to help local residents dispose of items they no longer wanted.

The trial proved very popular with Craig Browne commenting "Clearly we will need to hire a bigger skip next time."
