This year’s Alderley Edge Festival has been a huge success for Alderley Edge School for Girls with 30, talented pupils awarded 1st, 2nd and 3rd places and over 100 girls taking part in choirs, ensembles, solo pieces and duologues.
The Alderley Edge Festival always plays a huge role within the school community with girls putting in many hours of rehearsals for both Music and Drama. The school is also proud to host the Speech & Drama competition each year. This year, there have been 10 first places, 9 second places and 11 third places in both Speech & Drama and Music.
Headmistress, Mrs Nicola Smillie said: “As a school we very much look forward to the Alderley Edge Festival each year and there is much excitement in the build up with music filling the corridors as girls are busy rehearsing. I would like to thank all of the girls and staff for their hard work and commitment, the results are absolutely fantastic and I could not be prouder.
“It is also important to remember that each and every girl contribute hugely to our local community by taking part in the Alderley Edge Festival. It is an invaluable opportunity for children to develop their performance skills, build confidence and resilience; character attributes that are very important to us here at AESG.”
