Alderley Edge Mens Over 50s have continued their successful run in the England Hockey Tier 1 National Mens Over 50s Cup Competition, despatching the Yorkshire side Ben Rhydding 3-0 to progress to a semi final against last years champions Reading Hockey Club.
The side have so far beaten Shrewsbury, Bye, Deeside Ramblers, Stourport and Ben Rhydding. The semi -final is a home game on Sunday 26th March with a 2pm start on the AEHC home pitch, Ryleys playing field on Wilmslow Road. The winners will progress to the final to be held at the Olympic stadium in London.
The success has been mirrored by the AEHC Ladies Over 45s team. They started their journey with a resounding 7-1victory against Deeside in Round 1.
They have now progressed to the National T1 Ladies 045 semi finals via West Bridgford and a hard fought victory in the quarter finals against Bowdon, the game ended 2-2 but Alderley prevailed in a tight penalty shootout winning 2-1.
On the same day as the mens semi-final they face a long trip to play St Albans in an attempt to reach their first National final.
