Chelford Road set to reopen as work is completed

Cheshire East Highways are preparing to re-open Chelford Road which has now been closed for two months.

Following repeated delays the road should be open later today (Friday, 23rd December).

Work to rebuild the culvert and repoint the headwall and arch barrel commenced on Monday 24th October. Initially it was scheduled to be completed on Friday, 2nd December, then delayed by a week until Friday 9th December and then until Friday, 16th December.

Councillor Craig Browne said "Works at Tanyard Culvert, Chelford Road, have been completed. The team are just waiting for the removal of the staff welfare cabin and then the road will reopen.

"I would like to thank the team for also siding out the footpaths on the approach to the culvert, as requested."

And no one explains the delays; the lack of workmen at the site; the lack of control by the council; and the inconvenience to probably thousands of road users.
