Alderley Edge School for Girls has been placed in the top 3% nationally for 'Value Added' in a report published by Cambridge University Centre for Evaluation and Monitoring. 'Value Added' is the measure recognised by schools as the amount of improvement a pupil makes from Year 7 to their GCSE results.

In order to produce the national 'Value Added' figure, schools are asked to produce their baseline figures for Year 7 as well as GCSE results. This is plotted on a graph to show the journey each pupil has taken and the improvement they have made over time. In national figures, some pupils would make a small amount of progress, most would make a near average progression and a few would make exceptional progress.

Pupils at Alderley Edge School for Girls are recognised as making 'exceptional progress' and are placed within the top 3% of schools nationally. The quality of teaching, first class resources, small class sizes and a plethora of enrichment opportunities coupled with a strong pastoral focus is proven to have a positive effect on the progress of its pupils.

Families who choose AESG do so because they believe in the benefit of a school that excels in educating a rich stream of potential, giving the school its breadth and diversity. Girls join the school come the highest academic capabilities as well as girls who need a little more nurturing and support to reach their potential. Whatever their starting point, AESG can most certainly make a significant improvement to their academic attainment.

Headmistress, Mrs Nicola Smillie, said: "We are always incredibly proud of all the results our pupils achieve in school, this year's outstanding GCSE and A-Level results, particularly. However, what we are always most proud of is the difference we make to each individual girl and the significant improvement she makes academically during her at time with us."

Parent of current Upper Sixth student, Mrs Hall added: "My daughter joined the junior school, entering at Year 4. When she was tested on entry, (although she had previously been at prestigious academic schools), she was found to be needing quite a bit of support for both Maths and English."

"Joining Alderley Edge School for Girls was arguably the best decision we made as parents. My daughter's GCSE grades surpassed all expectations. She chose to stay with AESG to continue studying for A levels and is now hoping to achieve straight A grades at A level to go on to a Russell Group University."

"It has been an unbelievable, incredible journey and today I no longer worry about her at all. She has grown as much in confidence and maturity as she has excelled in her studies. My daughter will leave AESG with all the skills she needs for life and has had a wonderful, fun time getting there. I cannot recommend AESG highly enough for all that they have done and continue to do."

Alderley Edge School for Girls has produced some of the region's top A Level results with many girls leaving for Russell Group Universities and highly competitive courses in Veterinary Science, Medicine, Law and Computer Science.
