'We simply want people to have a great time over something tasty!'

Local food lovers now have a new dining option in the village with the opening a Thai restaurant in the premises previously occupied by Alderley Edge Bar and Grill.

Giggling Squid opened its doors in Alderley Edge on Monday 30th May with a menu featuring curries, stir fries and Thai tapas with plenty of dishes to share with friends and family. A vegan menu is also available as well as a kids' menu for the little ones.

The restaurant has two floors with 100 dine-in covers, as well as a bar area. The interior includes bold wallpapers and banquette seating, plus for those who prefer an alfresco dining experience there is the outdoor seating at the front of the restaurant.

Speaking about why they decided to open a branch in Alderley Edge, Andy Laurillard Giggling Squid Co-founder, said "We've long had our eye on Alderley Edge so were thrilled when a site became available. We choose our locations where we feel we can add value to the local food scene. We know Alderley Edge is a community of discerning foodies and we can't wait to bring the buzz of Thai mealtimes to the area."

He added "Thai mealtimes are energetic, informal, adventurous and where food is celebrated. It's relaxed and there's no standing on ceremony. We simply want people to have a great time over something tasty! Every Giggling Squid has its own personal touch to it, and this restaurant is no different; it's a beautifully designed space that we hope will bring a lot of pleasure to our guests. We can't wait to welcome everyone in Alderley Edge."

Giggling Squid was founded by Pranee and Andrew Laurillard in 2002 with its first restaurant in Brighton. They now operate 44 venues across the UK.

We went for a late lunch after being recommended by our Granddaughter who told us that it was her favourite restaurant in Kent and we were very pleased that they have now opened up in Alderley. We started with Salt & Pepper Squid and have to agree it was the finest Squid that we have ever tasted in the UK. Our main dishes were equally tasty, if a little large for our appetites! Next time we will try their Tapas type dishes.
