Investigation underway into huge house fire on Wilmslow Road

An investigation is underway after a large fire spread through a house on Wilmslow Road in the early hours of this morning.

Fire crews from Poynton, Wilmslow, Lymm, Bollington, Warrington, Macclesfield, Knutsford and two from Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service, along with relief crews from Middlewich, Northwich and Sandbach, raced to the incident at 2.21am on Friday, 28th February.

Eight fire engines and the aerial ladder platform attended the scene and crews used five main jets to tackle the huge blaze.

Everybody from the property has been accounted for.

One fire engine from Crewe remains in attendance this evening and firefighters are continuing to monitor the building using a thermal imaging camera. The water bowser provided by United Utilities has now left the scene.

An investigation into the cause of the fire is now taking place.

UPDATE AT 17:45 ON 26 FEBRUARY
Firefighting operations have now drawn to a close and prior to departure crews liaised with highways teams regarding re-opening of nearby road closures.
