Allotments holders open their gates this weekend

Allotment holders at Chorley Hall Lane are supporting the Alderley Edge May Fair this weekend by having an Open Day on Saturday 11th September.

The allotments will be accessible via the pedestrian gate near the park for the public to have a look around the site and admire the autumn harvest.

Elaine Ockleton, Secretary of Chorley Hall Lane Allotment Association said "We are asking visitors not to go onto individual plots unless invited by the plot holder - but we are happy to answer gardening questions from the plot gates!

"If you are interested in growing your own fruit and vegetables or are interested in having an allotment in Alderley Edge this is your opportunity to come and see what allotment gardening is all about.

There will also be a pop up shop selling home made crafts and Christmas gifts and a pop up cafe in the newly refurbished allotment building which will be serving cream teas to raise funds for Guide Dogs.

Elaine said "Our "adopted" allotment Guide Dog puppy is graduating to his next trainer and this is our way of supporting his role to be a Guide Dog for his ultimate owner. Its best to call early for that Cream Tea, don't be disappointed by leaving it to the very end of the show!"

Doors open at 11am on Saturday 11th September.
