The latest figures show that local areas, except for Alderley Edge and Mobberley, are continuing to see an increase in Covid-19 cases compared to the previous week.

The map, produced by Public Health England, has been updated to show where the new coronavirus cases have been recorded during the 7 day period ending 12th June.

The map breaks down areas by 'middle super output areas' and shows that the infection rate has halved in many local areas during the current lockdown.

These latest figures from Public Health England show the number of cases during the 7 day period and the infection rate per 100,000 people.

• Alderley Edge and Chelford – 12 145 (0%)

• Handforth and Dean Row – 20 184 (25%)

• Mobberley, Plumley and High Legh – 8 66.9 (-20%)

• Wilmslow Town – 16 45.5 (228.2%)

• Lacey Green and Wilmslow Park - 19 287.7 (5.6%)

• Fulshaw Park and Lindow - 9 124.5 (40%)

• Prestbury and Adlington - 25 488.8 (56.2%)

% = change from previous 7 day period.

During this seven day period, Cheshire East had 458 cases, which represents a 4.8% increase on the previous 7 days. The infection rate per 100,000 is 119.2.

Speaking specifically about Alderley Edge & Wilmslow we need to call on those with the powers or access to those with powers to act NOW!

Not withstanding that there is a Delta variant it appears to me, from first hand experience, that our bars and restaurants are failing in their duty to enforce government rules and laws.

Specifically, Piccolino, Perea & Victors are allowing people to wander and gather & mix freely without masks.

I’m sure this is the same for many other bars and restaurants in the area that attracts 20-40 year old who it would appear feel except from all of the mask and distancing rules that the majority of us adhere to.

Just one example would be my last meal at Piccolino on a Saturday evening where I was in the 10% of people that wore masks and socially distanced. It’s clear that the 90% not complying were of the younger age group and non were challenged by staff of security.

When I asked the staff they said “we are not allowed to challenge people as they may be except” which I would say is complete tosh! I’ve witnessed the same in the other venues and amongst our friends they have cited numerous other venues where they experience the same.

I would call on the people I have listed to act NOW, get out on Friday & Saturday evenings and see it for your selves. Use the most stringent of measure such as removing temporary license extensions and implications on future license renewals for example.

I would also call on the venues themselves to stand up and play there part in enforcing masks and social distancing….. ensure patrons know when reserving and on entry that there is a zero tolerance and failure will mean being asked to leave!

As of 5 days ago Alderley Edge/Chelford was 195/100,000 infection rate a 15 fold increase in as many days.
