Ten new GP-led COVID-19 vaccination services are set to start vaccinating people across Cheshire East in the first weeks of 2021.

Initially focusing on protecting those at highest risk, and with exact go-live dates subject to national vaccine supply and other key operational considerations, services are scheduled to go live this week and next in:

• Wilmslow

• Congleton

• Knutsford

• Macclesfield

• Poynton

• Crewe (x2)

• Nantwich

• Middlewich

• Alsager

A small number of pharmacy-led sites have also been identified across Cheshire that could support GP-led services where required to ensure that residents are vaccinated as quickly as possible.

NHS organisations have also been asked to start vaccinating frontline health and care workers such as nurses, doctors and social workers.

Priority groups for vaccination are determined by the Government following advice from the Joint Committee on Vaccination and Immunisation (JCVI).

Knutsford GP Dr Paddy Kearns, Medical Director at Cheshire East Integrated Care Partnership, said: "This is just the beginning of the largest vaccination programme the country has ever seen and we will make sure that the people who need it most - and those that care for them - are able to access the vaccine in a safe way with the least delay."

We have to be standing on a bigger box guys . We need to open up fire stations and pharmacies and closed down schools for centres of vaccinations . Not 10 but a hundred needed . Get Tesco’s to deliver and ask anybody who has ever given injections to step forward . My wife is a candidate . A dentist for 35 years now retired and twiddling her thumbs at home .

Given Alderley Edge is the jewel in the crown of Cheshire East in terms of celebrities, footballers, "real" housewives and assorted high net worth individuals it is bordering on criminal that we don't have the medical centre in the village delivering the vaccine.

I'm sat in here a state of discombobulation as to what my taxes are being spent on.
