A Level students from Alderley Edge and Wilmslow were among the King's School's high flyers on an A Level results day of muted celebrations.
Normally throngs of excited young men and women share in each other's success, but this year social distancing meant celebrations were confined to their own homes.
Overall King's produced an impressive set of results which show an overall improvement on last year's results, with many students from the Wilmslow and Alderley area again performing extremely well.
Brilliant violinist Timothy Parkinson, from Wilmslow, got two A stars and two As and will now read Maths at Durham. He said: "I am very happy I got into my first choice university. We were all preparing for the exams when school went into lockdown. In truth, I am still shocked we never got to sit the papers."
Nico Caplin, from Alderley Edge, got two A*s and two A grades and will now read for a Masters in Psychology with Innovation at Bristol. A first XV King's rugby player with a gold award in the Duke of Edinburgh scheme, Nico said: "I would like to work in Artificial Intelligence in the British Army and feel this course gives me a chance to be among those people who can change the world for the better."
Lucy Gosnay, from Wilmslow also got two A stars and two As and will now read Psychology at York. A versatile musician Lucy said: "I feel relieved with my results, but sorry for those who got results which did not reflect how they should have done."
Dr Simon Hyde, King's Headmaster, said, "I am full of admiration for this superb group of young people: they have faced turmoil, uncertainty and change over the last few months and have had to be flexible and resilient.
"Despite the challenges, their achievements have been recognised and this enables them to progress to the next stage of their journey, which for most is their first choice of university, whilst for others it is higher apprenticeships or employment."
