The annual Wilmslow Schools' Sports Award evening took place at Wilmslow Leisure Centre on Tuesday, 25th June, to celebrate all the sporting talent and successes from local schools.
Alderley Edge Community Primary School had an extremely successful evening gaining awards in many areas including netball league winners, county champions for indoor curling, indoor athletics champions, cross country medals and local area football tournament winners.
Mrs Walsh, Head Teacher, said, "We are extremely proud of all our children and at the Wilmslow Schools Sports Evening we celebrated all the sporting successes we have had this year. AECPS teams and individuals were congratulated on the amazing successes they have had from football and netball, cross-country, indoor curling and athletics.
"The School Games Ambassadors were thanked for the work they undertake to promote sport and physical activity in school. In addition, three children were awarded special mentions for the Olympic values of respect, determination and resilience."
She added "Every year, each Wilmslow school nominates a child who is their individual School Sports Personality. AECPS chose Sam for his excellence, commitment and leadership skills among many other attributes.
"The nominations from all schools were then judged on their merits by Rosie Harris (Macclesfield and Wilmslow School Sports Partnership Leader). This year Sam was chosen by Mrs Harris as the overall winner. We are very proud of Sam, the award was richly deserved."
