Alderley Edge Community Primary School have achieved the School Games Platinum Mark Award for the 2017/18 academic year.

The School Games Mark was launched in 2012 to reward schools for their commitment to and development of competition, school sport, physical education and physical activity.

Mrs Di Clee, PE Teacher at AECPS, said "I was really pleased that Alderley Edge Community Primary School has been awarded Platinum this year.

"hroughout this, and previous years, we have worked hard to broaden the range of sporting opportunities offered to the children, both within curriculum time and in extracurricular clubs, increase the number of intra and inter school competitions and develop closer links with our local sports clubs. Through this process it has enabled us to support the pupils into community activities, which will hopefully develop a lifelong enjoyment of sport and physical activity."

Chris Perry, Headteacher, added " This fantastic achievement is recognition of the dedication and commitment of our school, and especially Di Clee, to sport and physical activity.

"Only a handful of schools in Cheshire East have achieved this highest level of award so we are very proud of the part the school plays in helping to keep children physically and mentally fit."
