Farmers Market fundraising ends the year on a high

farmersmarket

Now in its 11th year the Alderley Edge Farmers Market is one of the few bona fide Farmers Markets in the region and has become a tradition in the village. The Christmas market was a particular success raising over £825 for The Christie Hospital.

Christine Munro, who organises the Farmers Markets with her son Hugh, said “This was a marvellous ammount and thanks to all the generous people at the market.”

Fundraising activities at last month’s event included a raffle, where “ all the products in the hamper were donated by farmers and producers at the market” explained Christine. The photo above features Christine Munro with Mr and Mrs Sheldon from Wilmslow who won the raffle prize.

Alderley Edge Farmers Market has flourished since it began in June 2008 and today regularly has over 30 producers. Bringing vegetables and meats straight from the farm, ceramics from local kilns and a host of other treats from bakers, delicatessens, vineyards and breweries.

It is held on the 2nd Sunday of every month and runs from 9am till 1pm at Alderley Edge Festival Hall. The next market is this Sunday (10th January) and all future dates will appear in our events calendar.
