The Ryleys School is celebrating a number of wins at this year's Alderley Edge Festival. 22 children took part including the Festival Choir and Junior Choir. All the children were successfully placed first to third in their categories which is a fantastic achievement.

On Tuesday morning, The Ryleys Festival Choir opened the very first class (Junior Choir Year 6 and Under) of the week and came second with some fierce competition from other schools.

Wednesday saw the turn of the Junior Choir and it was the first time singing in the Festival Hall. They gave a spectacular performance and were placed third. In the afternoon, it was the turn of the vocalists. Francesca C from Year 4 was placed first and Ayva S, third in the Vocal Musicals category.

William T (Year 3) and Francesca C were also placed joint third in the Vocal Traditional Song Category. A wonderful result, given that there were 19 performers in the class.

In the Brass category, The Ryleys excelled with George G and Charlie McG achieving joint first in their Grades 2 and 3 Brass instrument solo. Tav H was placed first in the Prep Test Grade 1 Brass Solo.

On the Piano, Joey B was awarded first in the Prep Test with Elias S, Matthew B and Tony C all awarded third place.

Tav H in Year 4 was asked to play at the prestigious Gala Concert on Saturday 6th May where he played Minuet. This was a wonderful achievement as only the top performers are asked to play.

Director of Music, Mrs A. McEneny, said: "I would like to thank all of the children for their hard work and commitment. The results speak for themselves and I would not be more proud. I would like to extend my thanks to all of the wonderful team of visiting music teachers we have here at The Ryleys. They really are fantastic!"
