Turkish restaurant closes as Lebanese plans extension

Owners of the popular Village Cafe have closed their Alderley Edge restaurant 18 months after reopening it.

Ali and Gul Isik opened Rokali in December 2014 in the same premises as their previous Turkish restaurant Konak, which they set up in 2006.

Since then Ali and Gul, who live in Alderley Edge with their daughter Gulsah, have been managing both the Village Cafe and restaurant.

Ali told me "We have decided to close the restaurant as it wasn't as busy and it halves our workload."

He added "We spoke to Yara and they have already taken it over and will be extending their restaurant in the future."

Good luck to the owners. I'm glad the village cafe continues to be successful.

It's great news about Yara extending. Definitely my favourite restaurant in the village.
