Harden Park roundabout closures

Works to reconstruct Harden Park Roundabout on the Alderley Edge bypass are now reaching the final stages. In order for vital carriageway resurfacing works to be carried out, night time weekend closures are necessary from Friday October 23.

The weekend closures will run every weekend until November 21 and are scheduled to take place on Fridays and Saturdays from 8pm to 6am. Wilmslow bypass will be closed and diversion routes will be signed via Wilmslow town centre.

Councillor David Brickhill, Portfolio Holder for Environmental Services, said: “The tarmac surfacing at Harden Park Roundabout is an extremely complex piece of work and involves planing existing surfacing and laying new tarmac to join with the existing road layouts.

“These works have been particularly difficult to undertake in a live traffic environment but so far we have endeavoured to maintain normal traffic flow at all times. Unfortunately, due to the nature of the works it is necessary to close sections of the road approaching Harden Park Roundabout over night and put diversions in place.

“We believe that overnight closures are the most efficient and least disruptive way of finishing the works but we apologise for any inconvenience this may cause.”
