Once again Alderley Edge Community Primary School was busy during the advent period raising money for very poorly children and young adults.

The school raised £671.70 for Francis House Children's Hospice, which is the children's chosen charity that the school fundraises for each year.

The money was raised by collecting donations at various events. The parents, families and friends of the school generously donated following both the infant and junior nativity plays as well as the Carol Service which was held at St Philip and St James Church. The school choir and school orchestra also sang, played and entertained Christmas shoppers in the village with a variety of Christmas tunes.

Last week Kate Puc, from Francis House Children's Hospice, came to the school's special weekly celebration assembly to receive the collection buckets.

Kate said, "It is always a pleasure when it comes to my annual visit to Alderley Edge Community Primary School and this year was no different. I was invited to their achievement assembly which was really lovely. It was great to see so many children being awarded for things they have achieved during their week at school. At the close of assembly I was given four heavy buckets by the pupils. I would like to say a huge thank you to all the staff and children for all their hard work, time, effort and enthusiasm that you put into these activities."

Headteacher Chris Perry said, "I am always amazed by the generosity of families and friends of children in our school as well as the general public. The amount of money raised was incredible. I am always talking to the children about how they can make a difference and this money will really make a difference to the families who need the help of such a special place as Francis House."

Francis House provides care for children and young adults with life threatening conditions. They also provide support and friendship for the whole family.
