Plans to replace 48 garages with new homes

Peaks and Plans Housing Trust are applying for planning permission to demolish two sets of garages in Alderley Edge and replace them with new homes.

The first application (reference 14/2140M) is for the demolition of 32 garages on land to the north of Beech Road. The proposal is to replace them with 4 homes, 3 of which will be two bedroomed and one will be three bedroomed.

The second application (reference 14/2150M) is for the demolition of 16 garages located on the other side of Beech Road. The proposal is to replace these with 2 two bedroomed bungalows.

Peaks and Plains Housing Trust held a public meeting regarding these plans, as a result of which they say it became clear that very few of the garages are used for the parking of cars.

Funding for the scheme will be secured via the Homes and Communities Agency with support from Cheshire East Housing Strategy Department. The new homes will be let for affordable rent.

The applications can be viewed on the Cheshire East Council website by searching for reference 14/2140M and 14/2150M.

The last date for submitting comments is 4th June and a decision is expected by 23rd June.
