Alderley Edge Methodist Church will be hosting their fourth annual Christmas Tree Festival in a couple of weeks.

Throughout the weekend the church will be filled with decorated Christmas trees of all shapes and sizes, which have been contributed by local organisations, schools and businesses.

The Christmas Tree Festival will be held from Friday 30th November to Sunday 2nd December to raise funds for the Church's Spire Appeal.

Judy Povey, church secretary, said "This is the 4th Christmas Tree Festival and we hope that this one will prove equally successful in attracting the community to come into the Church and view a magical display of almost 60 Christmas trees contributed by organisations, businesses, and other members of the local area. Throughout the weekend there are also three wonderful Concerts to enjoy."

The festival will start on the Friday lunchtime with a concert by Hallé Soloists and in the evening, the Church are looking forward to welcoming the Macclesfield Male Voice Choir. This concert also includes some audience participation by way of joining in some carol singing.

On Saturday evening Leyland Brass Band will perform a concert. They were runners-up in the National Championships and will now compete in the European Championships next year.

The Christmas Tree Festival will finish on Sunday afternoon with carols round the trees, which is a popular event for families and the community in general to come together to sing carols and Christmas songs.

Judy added "A donation from this afternoon's collection will be given to East Cheshire Hospice, and the remainder of the profit from the weekend will be in aid of the Church's Spire Appeal, which still has something in the region of £30,000 outstanding before the Church can truly say the repair and renovation work on the spire has been truly paid for and completed."
