Queen's Diamond Jubilee celebrated in art

Winners of the Diamond Jubilee Art Competition, which saw some very impressive entries and raised money for charity, have been announced.

Over sixty local school children entered the art competition which was organised by Bebb and Sekers fine art gallery and Mr Simms Olde Sweet Shoppe to raise funds for Home-Start - a charity that helps vulnerable children by offering support, advice and friendship to their families through trained volunteers.

Peter Munro, Chairman of Home-Start East Cheshire, and Maggie Spooner, Project Manager, were joined by volunteer Sue to judge the entries at Costa Coffee on Friday, 1st June.

After much debate they declared the winners to be: Willa Baker-Abraham, Kiana Sangha, Charlotte Wright and Nikki Cowell. (see below for full details of the winners and runners up).

Lucy Sekers said "The response from schools, parents and local businesses has been wonderful and the generosity of the village has once again been fantastic."

All entries to the competition are currently on display in Costa Coffee until Tuesday, 5th June.

Prizes for the competition and raffle were generously donated by local businesses, raising a total of over £150 for Home-Start - as well as raising awareness of the wonderful work the charity does.

All the entries will now be bound into a commemorative Diamond Jubilee book and presented to the Alderley Edge Parish Council to be kept at the Festival Hall for visitors to see.
