Favourites return for lunchtime concert

Qian Wu and Russell Lomas

The next concert of our current season of lunchtime concerts at Alderley Edge Methodist Church takes place on Wednesday 16th May with a recital by Qian Wu (violin) and Russell Lomas (piano).

Qian, born in Shanghai, came to the UK in 2000 to study at Chetham's School of Music. She continued her studies at the Royal Academy of Music, graduating in 2008.

Jean Walker said "Qian is making her fourth appearance at Alderley Edge Lunchtime Concerts, where she has entranced the audience with her vivacious and virtuosic playing.

"Qian's accompanist, Russell Lomas is well-known to concert audiences at Alderley Edge. A former member of staff at Chetham's School of Music, his sensitive playing is always an inspiration."

The programme on 16th May will include works by Kreisler, Elgar, Faure and Wieniawski.

Admission is by programme, available at the door, priced £3.50.

Light lunches, charged separately, are available from 12 noon.

A proportion of the proceeds will be donated to Lawrences Roundabout Well Appeal as part of the mission outreach of Alderley Edge Methodist Church.
