Share your coronation memories for jubilee exhibition

Remembering AE Poster copy

In addition to a community street party to mark the Queen's Diamond Jubilee in June, an exhibition about Alderley Edge at the time of the Queen's Coronation in 1953 is planned.

Organisers have decided to put together a selection of pictures and recollections about Alderley Edge at the time of the Queen's Coronation as part of this year's celebrations.

Cllr Melanie Connor, who is organising the exhibition has spoken with the Alderley History Group and a number of other local residents who are gathering information together.

Alderley History Group have a meeting on Monday 14th May and all members have been asked to bring any memorabilia with them which can be copied or scanned. It is also hoped that the village churches, organisers of Alderley Edge Festival, the cricket club, golf club, scouts and Allotment Society will have some items for the exhibition.

Alderley Edge Parish Council has been given some large exhibition boards which they will use to display all the collected pictures and memorabilia.

If you have recollections or memorabillia of Coronation Day in Alderley Edge please do tell us about them via the comment box below and email Ashley Comiskey-Dawson at the Festival Hall if you have any items for the exhibition.
